Isaiah 58 for Thursday, May 10, 2012
NEWS:
Thanks to everyone who helped out with Missions Weekend. We had a lot of traffic at our table and about a dozen folks expressed interest in serving.
The on-again, off-again dispute with Seattle about the downtown feeding site has taken twists and turns since our January feeding date. The decision to shut down our 6th & Columbia site by February 29th was made and cast in stone. As of January 19th, that stone may have cracked a bit and we may get a 6 month reprieve, but there are still those in city gov't determined to follow through. Here's a related Stranger article to look at. A posting on Mayor McGinn's blog provides the city's response to the outcry, written by the person who seems to be at the center of the controversy, Dannette Smith.
Check out the great article Serving with Isaiah 58 written by Brianna Langley that is posted on NSB's Local Outreach blog.

Serving Night Procedure
To help with food prep, meet at Northshore Baptist's kitchen at 5:30 PM. Our shoppers will already have the food there and ready to prepare. We load up from church and go downtown at about 7:15, arriving about 7:45.
The location downtown where we set up and feed is at 6th and Columbia, underneath the freeway, just off the James St. exit. Serving starts at 8:00. We finish about 9:15 and return to the church. Please remember that no food may be taken from the site by our patrons. This rule is part of the umbrella organization's agreement with the city.
